This started out as something completely different in my mind, but this is what it blossomed into. There is a black sparkly background (not that you can really tell), then I splattered over it (using the drinking straw method) the orange, then red, and I finished it off with some white stitches. I did these to compliment my Away Team nails. I could use a bit of practice with perspective, but I think for a first try they came out pretty nicely. I started with white nail pen, but it proved too shaky, so I switched to the tried and true, simply, easy flowing, acrylic paint. Here's my representation of the typical away team: Riker, Data, Geordie, Worf, an Dr. Crusher. It was quite the spectacle. I picked up some bitching prints, saw some crazy (and lazy) cosplayers, oh, and I got my picture taken with Nathan Fillion! Obviously I had to paint my nails to match the occasion, and after watching the entire Firefly series while I was off work being sick, naturally I decided to do Firefly inspired nails. I had to keep it simple because I still was not feeling well. So, I ended up with a gradient of Jayne Cobb's hat and did a simple line drawing of said hat. This picture was also taken after a few days of wear. Tools Used:

In the scene, Uncle Leo is doing pull-ups and he has JERRY and HELLO as knuckle tattoos. The scene is at 0:27 I decided to do two accent nails based off my tattoo. I accomplished this look with a variety of blue acrylic paints and mixing up my own pinks, and a variety of liner brushes. I'm sure you could do this with nail polish if you have the right colors. I decided that I was going to use my nail art pens for these since they are easier to control for straight lines, but I encountered a problem - the blue pen didn't show up on top of the black. To remedy this, I simply drew the lines first with my white nail pen, waited for it to dry, then colored them in with the bright blue. Boom, Tron nails. These pictures are pre-clean up. Also, I'm going to include pictures of both of my hands. Try to guess which is my dominant hand ;) Polishes Used:

About Bailey
I'm 29 years old and I just moved to New York City with my boyfriend and little monster dog. I've been doing nail art off and on since I was a kid...that's about 17 years! But I really got back to it about 3 years ago. Archives
