This started out as something completely different in my mind, but this is what it blossomed into. There is a black sparkly background (not that you can really tell), then I splattered over it (using the drinking straw method) the orange, then red, and I finished it off with some white stitches. I just bought my first neon polishes and what better way to start using them. Trust me, they are much brighter in person! Tools Used:
Scotch tape Polishes Used: Green - China Glaze #1009 In The Lime Light White - China Glaze #023 White on White Orange - China Glaze #874 Sun Worshiper Gold - OPI # HL D07 Goldeneye I went into Ulta on Saturday to pick up another bottle of Seche Vite and walked out with 7 different polishes and $53 less in my wallet. With my fancy new colors in tow (and my first Zoyas!), I sat at home and tried to come up with a design that would use as many of them as possible. I've tried the butterfly wings before (many moons ago) with disasterous results and thought that this would be the perfect time to try again now that I have new brushes and...oh boy did these turn out great! The colors all blended together extremely well, they are super shiny and shimmery and my line work has improved immensely! I want to try my other polishes, but I plan on wearing this mani for as long as possible - soooo pretty! Tools Used:
Make-up sponge Detail brush Polishes Used: #1 Base pink - Zoya #ZP551 Faye #2 Orange - OPI #NLE79 A Woman's Prague-Ative #3 Dark pink - Nicole #NIF13 Back In My Gloria Days... Black and white acrylic paint *And just because I couldn't stop this scene from playing in my head whilst painting this mani... No one ever suspects.....The Butterfly!! Gotta dress up the nails for a holiday! I wanted to do a slightly more complicated gradient for St. Patty's Day, but looking back on them, I wish I had used more dark greens. Oh well, there's always next year! Tools Used:
Make-up sponge Polishes Used: Light green - China Glaze #80937 Re-Fresh Mint Mid-green - China Glaze #80830 Tree Hugger Dark green - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear #10 Emerald City Glitter - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear #180 Disco Ball Green glitter - Ulta Love Fern Gold - OPI #D07 Goldeneye Man, I seem to have been having the best luck lately finding the perfect combos for gradients! This is definitely a more girly manicure than I'm used to, but it almost looks holographic. And when you see it in the sun...oh boy does this mani sparkle and shine! Tools Used:
Cosmetic sponge Polishes Used: #1 Pink - Maybelline Express Finish #250 Berry Boucle #2 Pink/Orange - Sally Hansen Lustre Shine #006 Lava #3 Gold - OPI #HLD07 Goldeneye I just finished reading book 4 in the series and I couldn't help myself. I LOVE how these turned out! So crisp, clean, and frankly, awesome. I freehanded everything and I am incredibly impressed how my skills at painting with my non-dominant hand have improved so much. You can't quite see it in the pictures, but the black base color actually has a hint of yellow sparkle in it, which I thought would make a good "spacey" color and to finish off the space look, I added some little white stars as well. In the words of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation, "Share and enjoy!" I'm not going to explain how to do these nails in detail, because I think it's pretty obvious to get from the picture.
