Minneapolis Comic Con 2014 - Firefly Nails

5/3/2014

This weekend was the Minneapolis Comic Con.  It was quite the spectacle.  I picked up some bitching prints, saw some crazy (and lazy) cosplayers, oh, and I got my picture taken with Nathan Fillion!  Obviously I had to paint my nails to match the occasion, and after watching the entire Firefly series while I was off work being sick, naturally I decided to do Firefly inspired nails.
I had to keep it simple because I still was not feeling well.  So, I ended up with a gradient of Jayne Cobb's hat and did a simple line drawing of said hat.
This picture was also taken after a few days of wear.

Pink Triangles

There's really nothing special here.  I really just wanted to try my new neon pink and I have been doing too many simple gradients lately, so I jazzed it up a bit with some sparkly triangles.
I believe this picture was taken a few days of wear.

3 Color Magnetic Gradient

So I know I've done something incredibly similar before, but I wanted to do another magnetic gradient and these colors just flow so nicely together.  But this time, to step it up a notch, I added purple between the silver and pink.  Enjoy!

You might remember that I've done these before, but I got very shitty cell phone pictures.  So here they are in natural light with a decent camera!
I did these for a wedding I went to.   I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you haven't gone out and bought these polishes and tried this yet, YOU MUST!  I promise you won't be disappointed.

Rainbow Gradient

Well it certainly has been a long time, hasn't it!  I took a break from polish because I simply didn't have much motivation or any good ideas.  But now I'm back in full force!
I present to you my rainbow gradient nails.  Very simple, very pretty, and subtly stunning (in my opinion).  Definitely the best gradient I've done so far!  Although you can't really see the pink on the other side of my thumb nail, the blend between the pink and orange was REALLY seamless.

St. Patty's Day

Gotta dress up the nails for a holiday!  I wanted to do a slightly more complicated gradient for St. Patty's Day, but looking back on them, I wish I had used more dark greens.  Oh well, there's always next year!

Man, I seem to have been having the best luck lately finding the perfect combos for gradients!  This is definitely a more girly manicure than I'm used to, but it almost looks holographic.  And when you see it in the sun...oh boy does this mani sparkle and shine!

Black to Blue glitter gradient

I bought China Glaze "Dorothy Who?" today and could not resist using it immediately.  So I came up with this spectacular black to blue glitter gradient.  I used 4 different blues to get this dazzling effect and I applied it with the simple sponging gradient technique.  Seriously, this picture really does not do this manicure justice.  The blues are so bright and perfectly blended with amazing sparkle!  If you can, I urge you to pick up these polishes and do this mani yourself.  You will not be disappointed!

    About Bailey

I'm 29 years old and I just moved to New York City with my boyfriend and little monster dog.  I've been doing nail art off and on since I was a kid...that's about 17 years!  But I really got back to it about 3 years ago.
As you can probably tell, my inspiration comes from my love of TV shows, movies, games, and other miscellaneous pop culture.
